Dubrovnik - Must see pt.2

After our first day of relaxation and exploring beaches we decided to spend our second day taking in some history. For a small fee you can gain access to the top of the town walls, I would highly recommended checking them out. A little tip, as some of you may or may not be aware Dubrovnik is the filming location of Game of Thrones, if you're a fan it's worth paying the extra money to get a guided GOT tour.
Once on top of the walls you are hit with an amazing view of the town below, as you walk around you see views of the bars perched on the cliff face and the sheer beauty of the wall itself.

The wall took about an hour to walk around, but once on, there are different exits you can take to get off, so it's a really flexible activity to do. Once down from the wall we headed across to the cable cars.
The line for the cable cars do get a bit long around sunset time, so if you want to be up the top in time for the sunset make sure you get there early. There is a restaurant up the top and also options for dune bugging so it's definitely worth checking out. As for me, the view alone was enough to make it one of my favorite things to do in Dubrovnik.

Croatia - Dubrovnik

During July and August 2015 I spent 6 weeks travelling around Europe. One of my favorite places I visited was Croatia, my first stop and my favorite city in Croatia was Dubrovnik.
Over the next few weeks I will give you tips of the must sees of Dubrovnik, from the amazing view at the top of the cable cars to the hidden "hole in the wall" bar that is situated on a cliff face.

Dubrovnik is a large coastal city with 16th-century walls encircling their old town, the beauty of the Old Town is like nothing I have ever seen before. It is this reason alone that I would recommend staying in the heart of Old Town when travelling to Dubrovnik.

When you first walk into Old Town the first thing you see is the main street, although this is a street I did not see one single vehicle inside the walls during my stay.

The beauty of the streets is within the sandstone pavements and sandstone buildings, everything is calved out so carefully and with such beauty.

Once you wonder off the main street you soon realise the scale of the town, all the buildings are so close together and accommodation is not in any high-rise hotels or big resorts but in little doorways down narrow alleyways.

The alleyways were filled with bars and restaurants which by nightfall were buzzing with laughter and excitement. The feeling of staying inside Old Town is indescribable, I had never been and still have never been to a place like Old Town Dubrovnik, the warmth and happiness you feel when visiting the town I believe is down to the welcoming nature of the Croatian locals, you feel at home straight away, they instantly share their tips and their town with you.

Keep an eye out for my next post on Old Town Dubrovnik to learn the locals tips and share my experience during the rest of my stay.
